A Brief History of the Arthur Murray® Dance Studios

Arthur Murray® first started teaching people to dance in 1912 and founded his first dance studio in 1923. From a "learn by mail" business, Arthur Murray® Dance Studios now have over 250 dance studios throughout the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Australia, Europe, South Africa and New Zealand. The Arthur Murray® Dance Studios are individually owned and franchised to operate under agreements with Arthur Murray® International, Incorporated. Arthur Murray® standardized dance lessons are interchangeable from one dance studio to another and the dance lessons will be honored wherever there is an Arthur Murray® Dance Studio.
